[It's taken him ages to work up the courage to do this. He's not been able to make heads nor tails of the network since he's been back, either, even though he can manage to navigate it via memory.
Not being able to read was appalling.
Still, he had to contact Sherlock, pride or no pride, he would be worried. Audio and text were right out, so video it would have to be.]
Sher.
[A pause. Blast. Couldn't even say his name correctly.]
[Normally he eschews video firmly, but he can tell with just that brief introduction to Mycroft that text or audio will likely be utterly useless. It sends his heart sinking, but at least it will be temporary and this means that Mycroft is alive again.
He has to take a moment or two to make sure that he's properly composed before he actually turns to the camera on.]
He can hardly make out what Sherlock has just said. Simple words, and yet...his brain registers...confusion. Garbled syllables. There has to be a way to figure this out, to not make this look so bad.
What would Sherlock ask upon first contact?
What happened. Clearly, he would ask what happened.]
...tack.
[No, he meant to say 'there was an attack. An anomaly.]
[Please, he's not a total idiot, it had to be an anomaly attack because there hadn't been any reports of widespread mental instability or hallucination, and Mycroft is meticulous enough not to allow himself to get trapped outside overnight.]
But why did one anomaly take two people? They usually satisfy themselves with one.
[Unless the other fought back.
He wants to know... did Mary try and save Mycroft, or did Mycroft try and save Mary?]
[That gets a blank look. Then a growl of frustration.
This was impossible! He couldn't let this ridiculous death price do this to him.
It takes a long moment, but he goes over the syllables in his head. There was repetition of similar sounds...numbers, perhaps? He was probably curious why two died instead of one.]
[This is no good, it's impossible to converse with Mycroft this way and obviously text isn't going to help or he already would have used it.]
Fine, tell me in a few days. We'll be here.
[He circles building 126 on the map and sends it over.]
Be there.
[And with that, he hangs up. It's not kind, not when Mycroft has just revived, but it's harder than he wants to admit to deal with his brother this way.]
@holmesice, Day 337, video
